To All Barrel Racers & SABRA Members,

Okay, here we go again,.It was unfortunate that we had to cancel the July race at Schulz, we received many e-mails and phone calls stating it turned out to be a good decision...So, here we are back at the starting gate with the Saddle Series ready to launch! This barrel race will be held at AVRA VALLEY HORSE PARK..from I-10 and Avra Valley Road exit,(going west) it is 13 miles to the corner of Avra Valley Road and Anway, take a right(north)..proceed 2 miles to Jaguar, turn right, (west), and go .7 mile to musket. I will have a couple of bright neon green signs , to help those of you that not been there..They have reworked things and there will be plenty of parking and a nice new shaded area for the announcer and spectators..

The BOOKS will open at 5:00, and we will start at 7:30, or thereabouts.

Let us review some of the rules on this saddle series. This will be the first of the Saddle Series, that SABRA is having. The series will end with the October race, ..We are not just awarding one saddle, we are awarding a saddle to each high point division winner. Yes, 4 saddles!!..The amount to enter this series will be $40.00, total! that makes it a real good deal, where else can you shoot to win a saddle for $40.00, and have fun with your horse, and all of us, at the same time? There will be a $5.00 nonmember fee, and the usual SABRA entry fee for the 4D. THERE WILL BE NO SUBSTITUTIONS OR BUY BACKS..This race is open to everyone. This is a great opportunity to win a saddle, if you don't think you are qualifying to win a saddle in the regular 4D, here is your chance to turn it around. So, please join the saddle series and help make it a success!!

We will get the Saddle Series schedule out but tentatively it looks like this:

August 16th at Avra Valley Horse Park, evening.

September 27th at Frizzels Arena, evening

October 4th at Fred's Arena, daytime

October 19th (Sunday) at Shultz Arena, daytime

These are nice Corriente Saddles, I won one a few years ago, it has been a great saddle to ride in, and it fits most all horses that I have used it on.

Also, you must have your membership/nominations paid by this race for your points to count for your year end awards. we have extended this for an additional month, because SABRA officers are fun, understanding and want to be more than fair....so please make the points that you have earned count towards your year end awards.

Also , check out the photos that Howard creatively snaps of your runs, he catches you at just that perfect second, he sits there getting those great shots of you and your horse..these photos can adorn your walls for years to come, giving lots of great memories..Christmas is coming , and it would be nice to surprise your friends with some of their runs. Also, I found out that Howard can put your photos on mouse pads, t-shirts coffee cups, you name it!..I love the idea of the mouse pads!!

NEED TO REMIND you all of the Ed Wright CLINIC that Vee will be having..Get with her as soon as possible to sign up, because it fills up fast. The clinic will be in October, which is right around the corner.(.you know , when the temperatures drop).. Vee has a nice place to hold this event..so get your deposits in as soon as possible..

Also, while signing up, don't forget to congratulate Joan Davis, our Treasurer, for qualifying for the AQHA World SHOW, in both barrels and poles. Good going Joan!!

Vee and Bree are very busy coming up with some new and different, and practical year end awards. ,The SABRA officers are soooo good at multi-tasking.....I have been finding some cool things for the youth group also..

We are still working on a date for the make up race..we will let you know as soon as we get a date that will work for most of us..We try to not be competing with other events,. so please be patient while we work on finding a date..We have listened to many of the members concerns and ideas..thank you for those.
